Membership / Mileage Expiration:
The qualifying miles that you have earned or qualifying
segments that you have flown between January 1 and December 31 are used to
determine your AAdvantage membership level.
The beginning of your membership year varies depending on when you qualify for
elite status. However, the end date will always be the last day of February of
each year. Then on March 1 of each year, your membership year will start over
and the mileage counter that keeps track of how many miles you have earned
toward complimentary upgrades will reset to zero.
For example, if you become an AAdvantage Gold® member on July 31, 2002, your
membership year begins on that date, and ends on February 28, 2003. In
addition, you maintain your membership for the following membership year, March
1, 2003, through February 28, 2004. Your elite status membership level for the
remainder of 2004 is based on the number of qualifying miles or qualifying
segments flown between January 1, 2003, and December 31, 2003.
